Let curiosity be your compass

Open Immersive Reader

After three weeks of traversing Australia and New Zealand as a tour guide, hosting 26 adventurous US travellers, it’s time to bid Kia Ora and farewell to the land of the long white cloud. As I prepare to return to my coaching practice and life in Brisbane, I can’t help but reflect on the profound impact of travel on my personal and professional journey.

The challenge to ‘let curiosity be your compass’ embarked me on this exploration of growth and success. Stepping back into my workspace, I’m reminded of three pillars that have shaped my approach to life and leadership: Curiosity, Perspective, and Confidence. And let me tell you, when it comes to unlocking your potential, there’s nothing quite like embracing travel exploration as an antidote for shattering limiting beliefs and playing small.

1.    Curiosity: The Catalyst for Leadership Mastery
Curiosity isn’t just a trait; it’s the secret sauce that propels us toward greatness. It’s the leadership skill that has transformed my life and the foundation of coaching. As I’ve journeyed across the globe, immersing myself in diverse cultures and experiences, I’ve discovered that curiosity isn’t just a skill; it’s a superpower. It sparks connections, fuels innovation, and ignites a hunger for growth that knows no bounds.

2.   Perspective: Broadening Horizons and Deepening Understanding
Perspective is like adjusting the lens on a camera—it reveals a world of possibility. Through my travels, I’ve had the privilege of seeing life from countless angles, challenging my assumptions, and broadening my horizons. Whether I’m sipping tea in the Block Arcade in Melbourne or snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, each experience gifts me with a fresh perspective, enriching my understanding of humanity and fuelling my passion for diversity and inclusion.

3.    Confidence: Conquering Challenges, One Adventure at a Time
Picture this: you’re lost in the bustling streets of Cairo, with nothing but your wits and a smattering of broken Arabic to guide you. It sounds daunting, doesn’t it? But let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like navigating the unknown to boost your confidence. Every challenge conquered, from dodging pickpockets in Quito to negotiating deals in Queenstown, fuels my confidence and empowers me to tackle whatever curveballs life throws my way.
So, my friends, if you’re ready to unleash your full potential, it’s time to embrace a new approach. Let curiosity be your compass as you seek out new perspectives, tackle challenges head-on, and embark on the adventure of a lifetime. You don’t need to be as bold as I’ve chosen to be, but find your way to get curious and expand your horizons.

Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Ps:  I would love to hear how you use curiosity and shifts in perspective to grow your confidence.
